Hi! I'm Ern.

I'm a traveller, scuba diver, freediver and all-round ocean-lover. I love travelling to different places, meeting people of different cultures and connecting with our natural world.Throughout my travels, I kept running into a frustrating problem. In many places I visited, I had no access to drinkable tap water. So, like everyone else, I found myself having to buy disposable plastic water bottles.Again and again.Then I'd see discarded plastic bottles washing up along the shores of the very oceans I'd come to love. And the truth was that I didn't have a choice. Neither did many of the people living in the places I visited.There just wasn't another option so I was powerless. And so were they. I realised that sometimes, the problem isn't that people don't want to make better choices. It's that they don't have the opportunity to.I didn't want to keep contributing to a problem I cared so deeply about. But caring alone wasn't enough.I needed a better alternative.And I began to wonder: What if we could create one?That's where the idea for PlanetKin began.

But too often, something we use for only a short time can leave a lasting impact on the natural world.Disposable water bottles are only one part of a much bigger problem. But they're a part we believe we can help change.
